Ended up winning two bass tournaments last week off of a pre-spawn smallie spot that my friend Ray knows about. On Wednesday night Ray and I fished the Tri-county club tournament on Pool 7. We had to beat another guy to the spot by passing him on the inside about a mile before the spot. Once we got there we loaded the boat with over 16 pounds of smallies on 6 fish. The next closest team had 8 pounds at the weigh-in.
Ray gave Andy Loos and I his blessing to hit the spot on Saturday for the Centurytel tournament. We picked up 6 nice smallies off the spot and then headed down to lake Onalaska for some largemouth and Northern to finish our bag. We came in with 30 pounds of Bass and 20 pounds of Northern to squeak out a 7 ounce victory over the next team. They came in with 65 pounds of Northern and a couple of bass. I also came in with big bass for the centurytel with a smallie they weighed at 5.4 pounds. It was a nice fish but I think their scale is a little off.
All the bass were quite lively and released well. We were also able to release most of the northern. A couple pike ended up in pickling brine.
